Can Beauty and Ferocity Coexist?

In Thai boxing or "Muay Thai", apparently they can.

Erik and I took a Tuk-Tuk ( another story...) on Saturday night to open air Lumpinee Stadium where Bangkok's premiere boxing events take place.

About $65 brings you a ringside seat.

The experience is further enhanced by a live band playing what sounds like snake charmer music from beginning to end of each match.

Mercifully, they break in between to allow your grey matter to recongeal (and perhaps the boxer's, too?)

I'll later attempt to separately post videos representing both the beauty and ferocity of this sport.

Underlying it all is a clear cut spiritual element that was reflected in the genuine concern a boxer shows when he inadvertently harms an opponent.

The photos simply don't do it justice...

Erik and I agreed this has definitely been one of the highlights of our trip, to date, including this photo of Erik standing with one of the boxers.
